Pokeno Art Festival

On February 19th and 20th, 2022, the small town of Pokeno will be holding our first ever Pokeno Art Festival and Garden Ramble. We’d like to welcome you to come celebrate our event with us.

Pokeno rests on the Southern doorway of Auckland. It is the gateway to the mighty Waikato. The original meaning of Pokino (of which Pokeno is a derivative) meant – a place of refuge.

As our communities all recover from Covid, we thought the best way forward was to once again become your ‘place of refuge.’ To reconnect the Auckland and Waikato communities, to extend our Pokeno country hospitality and open our doors to you all for a weekend.

On February 19th and 20th Pokeno will become a feast for your senses, with an art festival and garden ramble. We invite you all to escape to the country for a weekend, to immerse yourself in a vibrant spectrum of feel good, positive energy and colour, as we give you the best of creative Pokeno.

Experience country gardens, and art in all its forms to lift your spirits, because gardening is indisputably an art form. Come enjoy the beautiful country gardens in our garden ramble, many of which have never been open to the public before.

Enjoy our festival of the Arts, from fine art, to literature, music, to authors and the oratory arts. We have something for everyone. We also have an intimate group of the most talented, internationally acclaimed award winning artists, balanced with young and emerging artists, from a spectrum of artforms, exhibiting in several mediums for your pleasure.

The Travel Editor of the Herald once called Pokeno the ice-cream capitol of New Zealand, and Pokeno Bacon has made the town famous, but there’s a lot more to Pokeno than its culinary delights. We may be a small town, but what we lack in size we make up for in sheer talent. Pokeno believes in quality over quantity.
So come escape to Pokeno on February 19th and 20th. Save the date, and please spread the word to your colleagues, friends, and family. Come enjoy a weekend of gorgeous gardens and beautiful art. Come enjoy Devonshire teas in Victorian settings, and country food and drink and hospitality. We’ll see you there.
We welcome you all  ……  haere mai  ….. haere mai  ….. haere mai.

I wish to thank Chris Pullin, who dreamed the Pokeno Garden Ramble into being. I also wish to thank all of our sponsors, and our principal partners for their support, Pokeno Lions Club, and St Marys on the Hill Church, without both of whom the Pokeno Garden Ramble and Pokeno Art Festival would never have happened.

Pokeno Art Festival is a free event for the public to enjoy.
